A note about the website / Updated October 2026
Count the visits.
Not the person.
Umami is configured for this deployment. Browser privacy preferences and blockers may prevent it from loading.
What gets counted
When enabled, I use Umami, an open-source analytics tool, to understand which pages get read. The site sends page paths, referring sites, four reading-depth milestones, and outbound destination hosts. It also counts whether someone tries the microphone, explores the altitude chart, or uses the policy evaluator.
The evaluator reports only its result and a capped run count, not the choices that produced it. External links report the destination host, not a full URL, email address, or message. Archive search terms, filters, and fragments are excluded from analytics URLs.
What stays with you
No session replay, heatmaps, advertising profiles, or analytics cookies. No account or visitor database in this website. I do not send the words you type, microphone audio, photographs you view, or Easter-egg discoveries to analytics. The microphone visualization processes sound locally in your browser.
Umami still processes analytics data on its own service, including request information used for reports and visitor/session counts. A separate analytics service is not the same thing as no data being processed anywhere.
Your choice, respected
This website respects Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control, and Umami’s browser opt-out setting. Analytics blockers are fine: reading and every interactive feature work without the tracker. Local development, preview deployments, and the historical design studies are excluded.
Spotify playlist
The Offline page embeds a Spotify player that loads automatically as you approach the music section. It does not start playback automatically. Loading it connects your browser to Spotify, which receives request information and may use cookies or similar storage under its privacy policy. You can also open the playlist directly in Spotify.
The limits of that promise
The hosting provider and analytics provider receive network requests and may retain operational logs. Archive searches currently appear in the address bar and are sent to this website to render results. Removing them from analytics does not remove them from browser history or hosting logs.
Links to YouTube, social profiles, and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Paid sessions open on Topmate, which handles booking and payment. This website does not collect booking or payment details. Email replies use your email provider rather than a contact-form database here.
